Mission

Our mission is to provide a hub for the development of translational research and post-graduate education in an academic setting. The Center also aims at accelerating the path from discovery to spin-off as well as providing an array of advanced services to industry and non-academic stakeholders.

Multidisciplinary research performed at the Center is focused on characterizing pathophysiologic mechanisms of aging-related conditions to develop and validate novel therapeutic approaches and diagnostic/prognostic biomarkers. To that aim, CAST provides several shared facilities and state-of-the-art genomic and proteomic equipment as well as advanced imaging and electrophysiological techniques.

The Center promotes the implementation of clinical research through a dedicated Clinical Research Center licensed to perform phase-1 studies of new drugs.
