Molecular Medicine

Research Interests

The broad interest of our laboratory is focused on understanding the molecular and cellular mechanisms that regulate cancer progression, the inflammatory response, and its resolution. Studies are performed in preclinical, ex vivo, in vitro, and in 3D microfluidic models of cystic fibrosis and cancer.

Specifically, our group is pursuing the following lines of investigation:

1. Pathophysiology of the inflammatory response.

2. Mediators and receptors of inflammation and its resolution: biosynthesis, bioactivity, genetic regulation, expression levels in health and disease.

3. Biomarkers and disease models for personalized medicine.

4. Mechanisms of immune cell dysfunction in chronic inflammatory diseases.

5. Molecular mechanisms of cancer pathology.

6. Mechanisms underlying Tdark-related rare diseases.
