A recent publication from the laboratory of Molecular Medicine directed by prof. Mario Romano defines efficacy and protective roles of resolvin D1 on lung Inflammation in cystic fibrosis.

The study was coordinated by dr. Antonio Recchiuti and carried out by his research group and internal collaborators.

In this work the authors demonstrate that resolvin D1, a small endogenous pro-resolving lipid mediator, is effective in reducing chronic lung inflammation and Pseudomonas aeruginosa infection in mice and cells from volunteers with cystic fibrosis.

These results provide proof of concept for the development of innovative pro-resolutive therapeutic approaches to improve the lives of people suffering from this genetic disease.
