Prof. Paola Patrignani, has recetly been appointed as editor for Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics (CPT), the flagship journal of the American Society for Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics. Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics (CPT) is an authoritative cross-disciplinary journal in experimental and clinical medicine devoted to publishing advances in the nature, action, efficacy, and evaluation of therapeutics.

Paola Patrignani is currently Professor of Pharmacology and Head of the Research Unit of Systems Pharmacology and Translational Therapeutics. She is one of the top Italian Women Scientists for the extent of citations received by the international community. Patrignani's research focuses on studying the role of eicosanoids in inflammation, cancer, and cardiovascular disease. Her recent studies have allowed clarifying the determinants of Nonsteroidal Anti-inflammatory Drug (NSAID) toxicity for the gastrointestinal and cardiovascular systems, an important step towardsthe development of personalized treatments in humans. Patrignani’s intense research activity aims at identifying the mechanisms of the anti-tumorigenic effects of antiplatelet agents, with a particular interest in clarifying the mechanism of action of aspirin. Her work is giving insights into changes in routine clinical practice around the world, and for these achievements she received the prestigious Senior Science Award 2018 by International Aspirin Foundation.
